Welcome to Jackstraws website. We are a women’s Cotswold Morris side based in Farnham in Surrey, with members coming mostly (but not exclusively) from the west half of Surrey and the east half of Hampshire.
We are always pleased to take enquiries from anyone interested in joining the side, to dance or play music. We practice through the autumn/winter at the Hale Institute Hall in Wings Road, above the cricket field at Upper Hale, postcode GU9 0HN.
NEWS – SEPTEMBER 2018
While potential new members are always welcome at any practice, Jackstraws hold specific “taster sessions” at the beginning of the practice season to give you an idea of what we do. This year these will be held on Mondays 17th and 24th September at the Hale Institute from 8pm to 10pm, then on to the Alfred pub for a chat and a drink. Please email firstname.lastname@example.org or call Kris on 07876 204665 if you have any queries.
We perform dances from the Cotswold traditions of Fieldtown, Adderbury, Ilmington and Upton-upon-Severn, and also some “in the Cotswold tradition” developed by members of the side. We dance out in the summer at fetes, festivals and pubs, often with other teams. A quick scan through our programme will give you an idea of the locations and types of event at which we perform. The latest news can be found on our facebook page.
We can be booked to perform at fetes, fairs, weddings and other celebrations. Enquire via our Contact page.
Details of teams we get together with in the local area can be found on our Links page.
